East of Scotland League

On 6 Jan 1894 at the ESFA Rooms, George VI Bridge in Edinburgh, six West Lothian clubs set up an East of Scotland League, this was the first of a few leagues that were called by this name.

At the meeting the following were elected as officials:

Hon. President – Col Wanshope of Niddry

President – Mr Latimer (Bathgate)

Vice President – Mr Johnston (Bonnyrigg Rose)

Treasurer – Mr Hislop (Penicuik Athletic)

Secretary – Mr Miller (Bonnyrigg Rose)

Entry was set at £1 with a match guarantee of £3 and the home side meeting all expenses.

Although at the meeting it was agreed to enter no more clubs this season, Broxburn Shamrock was allowed to join later.

The competition didn’t fare well and was unfinished primarily because it had started so late in the season.
